Transition to Red No. 3-Free Alternatives: Take Advantage of Selected Products
The food industry in the United States is currently undergoing a transition related to the use of FD&C Red No. 3 (Red 3) in food products.
As part of this change, we have selected certain products that currently contain Red No. 3 to offer them temporarily at 20% and 40% off, giving our customers the opportunity to take advantage of available inventory while transitioning to Red No. 3-free alternatives.
What Is Changing with Red No. 3?
FD&C Red No. 3, also known as Red Dye No. 3 or erythrosine, is a color additive used to provide a bright red color to certain foods. On January 15, 2025, the FDA issued an order revoking its authorization for use in food and established January 15, 2027 as the deadline for food manufacturers using Red No. 3 to reformulate their products.
This change is part of a regulatory process requiring manufacturers to adjust their formulations and identify authorized alternatives to replace Red No. 3.
Important: This promotion does not mean that the participating products have been recalled from the market. The promotion is intended to support the transition and allow our customers to take advantage of available inventory of selected products.
